Escape into JOALI's World

of Child-Like Wonder

Prepare to be amazed as we welcome you and your little adventurers to our magical Island of Joy for Summer Camp, running from July 1 – August 31, 2024. Our Summer Camp is not just any camp; it’s a treasure trove of fun and discovery where kids can dive into the art world from a fresh and exciting perspective.

Imagine their wonder as they explore different ways to express themselves and see the world through a new creative lens. Centred around a camp theme of "Choose Your Joy, Spark Your Creativity," young explorers can choose the art form that resonates with them most, embarking on a journey of discovery with us.

Our expert team, including a resident artist, herbalist, marine biologist, astronomer, and talented team of chefs, lead the activities. Summer Camp is specially designed for kids aged 4-12 but there are also inspired art workshops for teens. Your kids will trade screen time for beach time and unleash their creative spirit and bond with nature. Picture them discovering the wonders of the ocean, making friends with charming sea creatures, and feeling the sand between their toes.

Creative workshops with visiting international artists

This Summer Camp, we have invited acclaimed artists from France and America to lead inspiring workshops and craft personalised experiences for each participant:

Emmanuel Deschodt, 8th to 14th July: Emmanuel, a Parisian artist and boxer, masterfully fuses these two vibrant disciplines to craft compelling portraiture and performance art. While at JOALI Maldives, he will present a live rendition of his 'Punch Portrait,' a captivating artistic portrayal.

Kids eager to explore the art of movement and enjoy a full-body workout can enrol in Emmanuel's private boxing lessons. They can also embark on a creative journey by participating in his interactive wood painting workshops.

Karu Paper Studio, 15th to 21st July: Anouk Vigneau, the founder of Karu Paper Studio, is a renowned paper artist based in Lille, Paris. She crafts captivating art pieces, both large and small, using techniques such as cutting, pasting, folding, and bending. During her residency at JOALI Maldives, she will conduct five specialised paper workshops for guests aged sixteen and up. Come and discover the magic and beauty of recreating JOALI’s coral reef out of paper.

Gabriela Noelle, 5th to 11th August: Gabriella, a Cuban American artist based in Miami, creates interactive art ranging from functional items to three-dimensional sculptures. Her work encourages viewers to see the world through a child's eyes. Budding artists can join her three-day workshop to experiment, paint, and learn together, all while having fun with her large-scale sculpture inspired by JOALI’s stunning plant life.
